Spooky Festival Preparation and Strategy

Post by Fenriz »

The wiki and the following two videos give all of the basic information needed for the upcoming Spooky Festival which begins 10pm EST, 2am UTC, or 10am CST.

ALSO NOTE THAT ALL OF YOUR HEROES, EVEN IF THEY ARE LEVEL ONE, WILL BE USEFUL FOR THIS EVENT!

And then one more video of a hidden scavenger hunt and puzzle for extra event resources. It is unclear whether or not this will be the same for this year.

Here I provide a detailed explanation of my preparation for the upcoming event as well as how I plan to utilize the resources given during the event.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
There are 3 resources you must save for the event (Emeralds, Energy, and Soul Stones) as well as two tasks you should consider saving the day the event is released (Outland Chests and Arena/Grand Arena battles). If you plan to spend money on the game now is also a good time as you get bonus rewards up to VIP 7.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
The Arena/Grand Arena (A/GA) fights are of the least concern. It is a seven-day event, and the max quest is to fight in both the A/GA a total of 50 times. Because you get 10 free fights between the two every day, you will naturally complete this by the end of the event, just make sure to use all A/GA fights every day.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Outland Chests are very limited because you only get 3 free Outland Chests a day. The only way to get more is to beat Outland Bosses, which gets harder every time or to spend emeralds. It is not recommended you spend emeralds on Outland Chests if you are free to play or have limited funds.

However, if you want to maximize your free-to-play Outland Chests for the event, then DO NOT open your Outland Chests for Thursday/Friday until after the event begins. This will be enough to get you the "Open 20 Outland Chests" reward on the final day for an extra 60 Ghost Candy (every little bit helps)
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Energy and Emeralds are pretty simple. If you get any Energy from quests or in the mail and they do not expire before the event starts, DO NOT claim them until the event. Usually, these can be saved indefinitely, sometimes they have a 30-day time limit. Save your Energy Potions as well and if you have the Emeralds to spare you can buy more Energy during the event.

If possible try to save your Get 60 Free Energy 3 Times a Day quest until after the event starts, and only spend enough Energy for the day so that you continue to get free Energy up to your max to get the most Energy. You refresh 10 Energy every hour if you have not reached your max (every little bit helps).

Save all Emerald purchases until the event begins.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Soul Stones will be the hardest to save if you are not saving already, though you also should try to unlock as many heroes as you can for the event itself. All heroes are leveled to the max for the special mode Furnace of Souls where you fight wave after wave of monsters.

You get a few Soul Stones from quests when you complete Heroic Missions in the campaign 3 times for the first time. You also get them every 10 levels (along with Energy) so if you are nearing levels 60/70/80/90 be sure to get there during this event.

You can also save the Hero Soul Stone Chests from level 50 of the Astral Season or from Day 28 of the Daily Login Bonus.

You cannot save Soul Stones you buy from the shops, but you can save the currency. However with 4-5 days left till the event, if you do not have a hero unlocked, you should still be buying Soul Stones from those unsummoned heroes every day leading up to the event. If you have a hero unlocked already, do not buy any more even if they are a part of your main team, until the event.

If a hero from the shop only needs 5 more Soul Stones or less to unlock, wait until the event begins before buying it.

You can also save your Daily Free Heroic Chest for Thurs/Fri until after the event begins later that day, just like your Outland Chests.

What Should I Spend My Event Currency On? (MUST READ FOIR CHAMPIONS)

The above videos explain how to get the Ghost Candy and Spooky Fesitval Coins for this event along with completing the quests. I only want to emphasize that you study those videos and wait for the event to start just in case any changes have been made for this year, but in general, you must do your best to defeat 250 minions every day for max event rewards.

The Ghost Candy only gives a random item. All items are ok, but what everyone really wants is the Spooky Festival Coin to spend in the Spooky Festival Shop.

I believe the #1 priority here should be the Hero Soul Stone Chest. This is a great opportunity to get the entirety of your main team to abs star, which not only provides the greatest boost in power but also unlocks the Soul Shop for extra items that you can use to exchange extra Soul Stones from your abs star heroes.

IT COSTS 630 SOUL STONES AND 2,765,000 GOLD TO TAKE A HERO FROM 0 SOUL STONES TO ABS STAR https://hero-wars.fandom.com/wiki/Soul_Stones

Not only that, but the Soul Stones you get from this chest contribute to the Soul Stone Quest for this event allowing you to get even more event resources, and thus even more Soul Stone Chests.

You should be focusing primarily on your main team, but you do have room to unlock 1 or 2 brand new heroes and get them to abs star as well.

After your main team is all abs star, you have a few options to spend the rest of your resources. If you want to advance in the Grand Arena and or have counter heroes for various modes, you can continue to invest in more Soul Stones for your second/third teams or backup heroes.

Buying Skin Tones is also a very good way to continue to improve your main team. Just unlocking a new skin for a hero improves that stat by 600 for most stats or 6160 for health. Other stats grant less than 600 points but are still valuable.

EVERY CHAMPION MUST FOCUS ON THEIR GUILD WAR TEAM! You must assume all enemies we face from here on out will be doing the same and we will be at a major disadvantage if even one Champion failed to focus on an end game comp and get their heroes as close to abs star as possible.

This is a good time to consider an end-game comp and try to build towards one based on your current best heroes. Simply google "[Hero name] comp Hero Wars" and see which comp you can reasonably build towards that seem appealing to you.

MATH POST!! (My math might be wrong but I'm doing my best)

This is the boring part and only useful as a reference and estimation of possible rewards.

According to the videos above, Spooky Coin Festivals are dropping at a rate of around 15-20%.

The maximum Ghost Candy is 17,060 from quests, 1500 from the scavenger hunt/puzzle, and it seems the Furnace of Souls grants up to 250 a day for seven days for a total of 20,310 possible Ghost Candy for this event.

This is of course unreasonable for free to play and most pay to play. I am going to do my best to calculate reasonable free-to-play rewards, adjust as necessary for your spending habits.

Log-in Every Day: 1750
Spend 500 Emeralds: 210
Spend 2500 Energy: 275
Fight in Arena/Grand Arena: 560
Scavenger Hunt/Puzzle: 1500
Open 20 Outland Chests*: 200
Get 900 Soul Stones**: 2075
Destroy 250 Evil Minions Every Day (7 days)***: 1750
Destroy 1250 Evil Minions (Total for the event)***: 560
Complete 56 Missions for the Event****: 1230
TOTAL SPOOKY CANDY FOR FREE-TO-PLAY: 10,110

*You must wait to open your Outland Chests on Thursday until after the event starts
**This is the max reward for this event. I believe with proper preparation and using your Spooky Festival Coins on Soul Stone Chests, it is very possible for free-to-play to gain this max reward.
***Destroying 250 Minions a day grants max rewards for the day. 250 minions a day over 7 days is 1750.
****Assuming all above quests have been completed.

It takes 250 Spooky Candy to roll for an item at the Great Pumpkin, so you can roll 40 times with 10,110 Spooky Candy. At a 15% drop rate, you are looking at 6 Spooky Festival Coins. This is of course entirely luck-based, you could get way more or less.

Free-to-play should reasonably be able to get 2 more Spooky Festival Coins by getting 1000 Soul Stones and killing 1500 minions during the event.

Example on how to allocate your Spooky Festival resources.

My main team consists of the following heroes and their respective Soul Stones.

Astaroth - Star 3 - 53/100 to next rank - 133/630 to abs star.
Keira - Star 3 - 47/100 to next rank - 127/630 to abs star.
Celeste - Star 3 - 0/100 to next rank - 80/630 to abs star.
Faceless - Star 3 - 60/100 to next rank - 140/630 to abs star.
Helios - Star 5 - 251/300 to next rank - 581/630 to abs star.

In order to get this team to abs star, I need a total of 2089 Soul Stones.

However, this is not a great team combo, despite each of the heroes being very good individually. I have pieces of either a good Helios comp, Keira comp or a Karkh comp, which is the one I will be focusing on.

A good Karkh comp always consists of Karkh, Faceless, and Astaroth. The healer for that comp is almost always Martha, though one build also supports any good healer. I then need to decide on one more support/attack hero, Kai, Jorgen, and Nebula being the most popular.

My stats for those other heroes.

Karkh - Star 2 - 25/50 to next rank - 55/630 to abs star.
Jorgen - Star 3 - 25/100 to next rank - 105/630 to abs star.
Kai - Star 0 - 60/80 to SUMMON - 60/630 to abs star.
Martha - Star 0 - 0/30 to SUMMON - 0/630 to abs star.
Nebula - Star 0 - 0/10 to SUMMON - 0/630 to abs star.

I have already invested considerably into Karkh and a decent amount into Jorgen, which is why I will be focusing on this comp. If I then ignore heroes who are not in this comp, I have the following stats to work with.

Astaroth - Star 3 - 53/100 to next rank - 133/630 to abs star.
Karkh - Star 2 - 25/50 to next rank - 55/630 to abs star.
Jorgen - Star 3 - 25/100 to next rank - 105/630 to abs star.
Faceless - Star 3 - 60/100 to next rank - 140/630 to abs star.
Martha - Star 0 - 0/30 to SUMMON - 0/630 to abs star.

Now I need 2717 Soul Stones to get this entire team to abs star. That means getting 33 Spooky Festival tokens which are on the very high end of the luck spectrum. It is, however, the least expensive comp for me to build towards considering my current investment in the heroes within this comp rather than focusing on a Keira or Helios comp.

This does not include the gold and item investment, though between this event and Astral Season we should be getting plenty of gold. I must now consider whether or not to go all out in this comp or to put Martha on the side for now and focus on Celeste who is still a great healer.

Luckily for my purposes, Karkh, Jorgen, and Faceless are all heroes whose Soul Stones I can buy in shops and Astaroth has 3 Heroic Mission in the campaign for additional Soul Stones. I also have 150 Soul Stones coming from Astral Season and Day 28 log-in bonus.

My remaining heroes will still be very useful as counter heroes or as part of my second and third teams for Grand Arena.
